Addressing a rally at Al-Assayed village in Sharkyia governorate, Gamal Mubarak, the Assistant secretary General of the National Democratic Party (NDP) and the policies secretary said there is no backtracking on carrying out economic reform programs which are undertaken by the government and adopted by the NDP.
He said the social expenditures plan represents the cornerstone of the State General budget adding this plan aims at achieving social justice for the needy families and impoverished areas.
He said the social solidarity law will be reviewed to cover a bigger number of families, adding this is taking place in the light of a full dressed policy which conforms to the new philosophy of the new social insurance law.
He said statistics indicate that one third of the poor families all over the republic are concentrated in 1,000 villages which have been selected for development. He said the majority of these villages exist in Upper Egypt governorates specially Minya, Assiut and Souhage where poverty rate ranges from 35 per cent to 80 per cent.
The NDP policies secretary said the NDP and government efforts focus on combating poverty, adding the development of most impoverished villages would be assessed in the coming weeks with the aim of making a stock of additional resources which would be used for the management of the one thousand village project.
The rally was attended by the Ministers of health, local development, social solidarity, housing, the governor of Sharkeya and members of the People's Assembly and the Shura Council in the governorate.
