El-Gabali: Notable Success of Health Care Strategy in Egypt

Health Minister Dr. Hatem El-Gabali confirmed the success of primary care strategy, which relied on published primary health care services free in the various governorates on the basis of the principles of access, justice and equality.

The average human lifespan has increased and is expected to increase the proportion of the population over 65 years from 6% to 23% in 2050.

The Minister added that Egypt is witnessing a gradual shift in the pattern of diseases faced by the Egyptians from Infectious to non-contagious diseases, pointing to getting rid of malaria.

And the low incidence of TB from 70 to 21 cases per 100 thousand populations during the period from 1990 to 2008 a decline of 70%, as well as schistosomiasis from 36.8% in 1983 to 0.6% in 2008, a decline of 98.4%.
