For his part, Electricity Minister Hassan Younis telephoned his Lebanese counterpart Hassan Feneish and informed him of the Egyptian decision.

Feniesh expressed his country's gratitude for the Egyptian assistance.

The Lebanese Energy Minister said President Mubarak's decision to reconstruct the Lebanese power grid, destroyed in the ongoing Israeli aggression on Lebanon, reminded him of a similar move by Egypt in 2000.
