The newspaper Dagens Industri reports that although economic conditions are not as strong as they were in the past, most Swedes are planning their vacation. Egypt has been named one of the tourist destinations the Swedes most wish to travel to in winter. On September 1, 2008, the newspaper Metro Riks reported an increase of 148 per cent in the number of Swedes visiting Egypt in January 2008.

On September 2, 2008, Utemagasinet published an article on the sites most suitable for adventure tourism citing 31 destinations including Egypt particularly diving and snorkeling areas in the Red Sea.

/></p><p align=On September 3, 2008, the newspaper Aftonbladet published an article entitled “77,486” which is the number of Swedes who visited Egypt in the first half of 2008. The figure indicates an increase of 96 per cent over that calculated for the same period in 2007.
