President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Monday 20/5/2019 bestowed the Order of the Republic, First Class, on outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Song Aiguo in acknowledgement of his efforts and role in boosting Egyptian-Chinese relations.
Song's efforts were crowned in 2014 when a strategic partnership between Egypt and China was announced, with that same year being dubbed "the Egyptian-Chinese diplomatic year".
The honoring ceremony of the Chinese ambassador, who ends his nine-year tenure in Egypt, was attended by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
According to Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady, Sisi asked Song to extend his best regards to Chinese President Xi Jinping, stressing his appreciation of Xi's wise role in leading China and its people towards prosperity, as well as keenness on promoting cooperation and strengthening relations with Egypt.
The outgoing envoy expressed deep appreciation of President Sisi, saying that that the honoring doesn’t go for him only, but also for the Chinese government and people.
It reflects the outstanding progress achieved by the strategic partnership between Egypt and China, he stressed.
Song further thanked Egyptian officials for all the cooperation and support they offered throughout his tenure. Also, he conveyed the best regards of president Xi to president Sisi.
