President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed Thursday to speed up the efforts of activating a system to tackle and manage the solid wastes.
Sisi’s directions came during his meeting with Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli, Local Development Minister Mahmoud Shaarawi, and Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad, presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said.
The move reflects Egypt’s interest in improving environmental, and health conditions, as well as creating more jobs through establishing waste management plants, added the spokesman.
The president also directed to benefit from distinguished foreign expertise in the field of waste management to ensure the new system success, the spokesman said.
The environment minister expounded the implementation steps of the new system of solid waste management, especially the steps of establishing needed infrastructure, he explained.
