French Ambassador to Egypt Stephane Romatet said that Egypt is a key and essential pillar for stability in the Arab world and Africa.

Answering a question raised by MENA on the sidelines of a press conference held on Thursday 14/11/2019 in the presence of French Consul General in Alexandria Janaïna Herrera, the French envoy hailed Egypt's current chairmanship of the African Union (AU) as very important.

Romatet said that Egypt and France are cooperating in the key regional issues.

Romatet asserted that Paris encourages establishing economic partnership with Cairo, pointing out to the great current economic growth in Egypt, a fact that encourages French companies to invest in Egypt.

He underscored the major importance of the Mediterranean Sea region which he said represents Europe's future, therefore France attaches importance to Alexandria, one of the largest cities on the Mediterranean Sea.

Development and economy represent a communication channel for the future of Egypt and France, he noted.
